Phase I of Koronis Ministries' Tabernacle Campaign Enters Final Stage
November 03, 2017
Koronis Ministries’ campaign for a new Tabernacle has entered its final stage, and plans for the new structure are beginning to move forward. If all goes as expected, site excavation will begin this Fall as workers remove the footers and slab from the old Tabernacle site in preparation for planned construction in the Spring. “Excitement around here is beginning to grow as we sense things on the ground are starting to happen,” says Executive Director Dan Ziegler. “This is a vision that has been forming for decades, and we all realize that it represents a crucial investment in the future vitality of this ministry. The new Tabernacle, like the old one, will serve as the spiritual focal-point of this lovely Assembly Grounds, inviting folks to come together to worship God like they have for nearly a century now.”
To date, roughly $1.5 million has been committed to the project, thanks to a $1 million grant from the MN United Methodist Church and about $500,000 given or promised by friends of the ministry. The Building and Fundraising Committees have agreed on a goal of $2 million needed to begin Phase I construction of this two-story, $3 million structure featuring state-of-the-art meeting space for 300 people on the top floor, and eventually (Phase II) a spacious dining room below.
Ministry leaders hope to wrap up Phase I fundraising by year’s end, spending the next few months inviting churches and individuals to generously give or pledge to help the camp reach it $2 million target. This final fundraising push includes an invitation for people to join the dozens of friends of Koronis Ministries who have already promised $3,000 or more over the next three years in support of the project. The Building Committee plans to meet with architect Chet Gamble in early January to finalize plans for construction.
